01 / Scope

What this policy covers.

This policy applies to the AfterFrame macOS application and the AfterFrame project website. AfterFrame is open-source software for organizing and editing media stored on your own devices.

02 / Local data

Your library remains on your device.

Photos, videos, previews, catalog records, metadata, ratings, tags, face embeddings, and people groups are stored locally on your Mac or in the catalog location you choose. AfterFrame does not upload your library to an AfterFrame server.

03 / Data collection

No account. No telemetry.

The AfterFrame application has no account system, analytics, telemetry, advertising SDK, or built-in crash-reporting service. The AfterFrame project does not collect, sell, rent, or share your personal data for advertising or profiling.

04 / Optional AI services

External AI is always your choice.

AI Repaint and AI Auto-Annotation are optional bring-your-own-key features. Only when you configure a provider and actively start one of these features does AfterFrame send the selected photo content and request directly from your device to the provider you chose. This is the only circumstance in which photo content leaves your device through AfterFrame.

AfterFrame does not receive those photos or requests. The selected provider processes them under its own terms and privacy policy, so review that policy before using the feature. API credentials are supplied by you and are not sent to the AfterFrame project.

05 / Local MCP

The agent bridge stays local.

AfterFrame's MCP server runs on your computer and listens on the local loopback interface, 127.0.0.1. AfterFrame does not expose that server to the public internet. Any MCP client you connect may have its own privacy practices.

06 / Website hosting

A static site hosted by GitHub Pages.

The AfterFrame website does not add analytics, tracking pixels, advertising cookies, account forms, or other data-collection scripts. It is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub states that visitors' IP addresses are logged and stored for security purposes and may process other basic service-usage information under its Privacy Statement.

The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser may send basic request information, such as your IP address and user agent, to Google when retrieving those font files. Google's Privacy Policy applies to that processing.

07 / Changes

Updates to this policy.

If AfterFrame's data practices change, this page will be updated and the effective date above will be revised. Material changes will be documented in the public project repository.

08 / Contact

Questions or privacy requests.

Open an issue in the public GitHub repository for questions about this policy or AfterFrame's privacy practices. Do not include sensitive personal information in a public issue.
